This course moves beyond questioning to check for understanding. Ultimately, we want to create lifelong learners who pursue knowledge on their own and ask their own critical questions.

By asking the right questions, in the right environment, with the right support scaffolds, we can stimulate student thinking to invigorate and sustain productive discussions that challenge our students and engage them at the highest levels of thinking and learning.

The framework and much of the content for this course was created using the book Questioning for Classroom Discussion: Purposeful Speaking, Engaged Listening, Deep Thinking by Jackie Acree Walsh and Beth Dankert Sattes (2015).
